My name is Zoe, and this is a blog about how I’m going about trying to grow as a writer. Stories have always been part of my life, and I’ve spent a lot of time making up various tales and sagas about everything and anything. Despite spending more years than I want to count, I have serious gaps in my skills, and since I’ve been participating in National Novel Writing Month what I need to do becomes more and more clear.

And so, this blog is about pushing myself, taking an honest look at my skills, and working to balance out my strengths and weaknesses. In my head, it’s like doing ground work with horses, it’s the basics and skills that make the ridden work look effortless. I’m sure there are other, much more effective analogies, but I like horses so that’s what I’m going to go with. Besides, there is something about writing a good, flowing passage of the story and a relaxed canter that just works.
